Southern Nevada’s water policies are quietly stripping our neighborhoods of the very things that keep them livable: grass, trees, and shade. Under the guise of conservation, the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) and Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) are targeting grass under trees and on slopes; areas that are essential for preventing erosion, supporting tree health, and keeping our communities cool. This goes against the original intent of AB356, which was never meant to apply to residential green spaces.
Now, residents are being hit with excessive water charges and pushed to remove grass that’s actually helping the environment. Our urban tree canopy is disappearing, and with it, the comfort and livability of our valley. It’s time to speak up. Sign the petition today and tell SNWA and LVVWD to protect functional grass, stop the excessive fees, and prioritize our environment over artificial landscapes.
